About AKF

AKF conducts research on organisation, management and practice within local authorities and regions. We study how initiatives can be qualified and streamlined, and how organisation and management can be developed to make the best possible use of public resources.

AKF has 90 to 100 research projects in progress during the course of a year, with about 100 different business partners and requisitioners. These include local authorities, regions, ministries, government agencies, organisations, universities, the EU and other international organisations.

AKF is a self-governing institution under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of the Interior and Health. Approx. one-third of AKF’s funding is provided by a basic grant from the Danish Budget, one-third from subsidies from research programmes and research councils, and one-third comes from contributions for specific research projects from requisitioners such as local authorities, ministries, government agencies and organisations.

The research is independent and the scientific quality is of international calibre. AKF emphasises that the research is relevant, topical and useful for local authorities and regions.
The research is published in AKF reports, academic journals or books and is also disseminated through the press, the ‘AKF Nyt’ magazine and the AKF electronic newsletter.
